Orchestra Victoria to perform in Latrobe CityOrchestra Victoria in association with Latrobe City Council will present free concerts in Moe and Morwell during October. By Latrobe City Council - 19th September 2003 - Back to News Orchestra Victoria will present a free chamber concert at Moe Town Hall on Thursday 16 October at 2pm.
On Friday 17 October a free orchestral concert will be presented at 7pm at Kernot Hall, Morwell.
Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Graeme Middlemiss said that this was a wonderful opportunity to hear orchestral music in a local venue.
"Orchestra Victoria is renowned for its performances and education programs offered throughout the state, enriching the cultural lives of more than 250,000 Victorians each year," Cr Middlemiss explained.
"I am also pleased to announce that the Latrobe City Youth Band will perform as a curtain raiser for the Moe concert, as well as during the free supper, hosted by Events Latrobe, after the event. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the audience to meet orchestra members," Cr Middlemiss said.
"Whilst both performances are free, we urge those that attend to purchase a raffle ticket for a good cause. All funds raised will go towards the proposed Regional Cancer Care Unit at Latrobe Regional Hospital," Cr Middlemiss concluded.
The Orchestra Victoria concerts follow on from the successful mOVe! musical workshops held in Traralgon in August. The sessions involved members of the Orchestra and local music students in a hands-on program of ensemble playing, instrumental techniques and small tutorials.
