Free Green Waste Disposal This WeekendResidents have been reminded that Latrobe City is waiving charges for the disposal of green waste this weekend 26 and 27 November at the Pine Gro green waste collection centres in Moe, Morwell and Traralgon. By Latrobe City Council - 24th November 2005 - Back to News In order to encourage residents to clean up their properties in time for the summer fire danger season.
The waiving of fees at the Pine Gro facilities encourages people to ensure their yards are cleared of all waste that can provide fuel for a wildfire over the summer months.
The Morwell green waste collection centre is located in Monash Way, and operates seven days a week from 9am – 5pm. The Traralgon facility is located in Rocla Road and operates Saturdays and Sundays only 9am – 5pm; and the Moe facility in Della Torre Road operates Saturdays and Sundays only from 9 am to 5 pm.
Latrobe City’s General Manager Infrastructure, Michael Edgar, said that the Moe facility will continue operating from the existing premises in Della Torre Road until further notice. "There has been speculation about a move of the Moe greenwaste facility to another site in Moe, but this will not be happening in the short term. For the time being it’s business as usual in Della Torre Road.
"It is important that Moe residents, together with other communities across the municipality, take the opportunity this free weekend offers, to dispose of branches, leaves and grass that may constitute a fire hazard during the summer months," Mr Edgar said.
Residents are reminded that Council’s transfer stations no longer accept green waste.
