Building site signs needed

Wellington Shire Council reminds all builders that the new Building (Interim) Regulations 2005 are now in place and require the person in charge of building works to display a site sign on the property.

By Wellington Shire Council - 8th August 2005 - Back to News

Under the new regulations site signs must contain:

  • The registered numbers and contact details of the builder and building surveyor
  • The building permit number and issue date.

Wellington’s Acting Municipal Building Surveyor Leigh Collings said: "The regulations came into effect on June 14 and apply to Registered Building Practitioners, builders and owner/builders."

Mr Collings says the signs have to be erected at the front of the building site before the work commences and remain until the project is completed.

The Building Commission is running a limited promotion to give away sample site signs to Registered Building Practitioners. For details visit: www.buildingcommission.com.au
