‘Tripod versus the Dragon’ at Latrobe Performing ArtsShowing at the Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Tuesday 9 August from 8pm, Tripod's new show takes place inside a game of Dungeons and Dragons. By Latrobe City - 27th July 2011 - Back to News Featuring Tripod’s renowned (and hilarious) musical talents, ‘Tripod versus the Dragon’ depicts Scod, Yon and Gatesy as they go head to head with their new Dungeon Master Elana.
Gatesy is suspicious and reluctant - he has never played before and is not sure he wants to fly his geek flag quite so proudly - but before long he is drawn into a stupidly epic quest. Along the way we tangle with classic themes of love (she turns out to be a dragon - long story) greed (as Scod makes some dangerous pacts) and faith (as Yon prays like mad at some key moments). In the end it's about not fitting in, and deciding to be okay with that.
Latrobe’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that for the price of admission, the audience would get great music, big laughs and heaps of heart.
"This show will appeal to a very broad range of patrons who enjoy comedy, ingenuity and music. For gamers, comic book aficionados and the ‘nerd’ subculture, this show will be a sure-fire hit. For anyone outside those categories, Tripod’s quirky and hilarious musical antics will definitely
engage," Ms Roberts said.
The show is on at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Tuesday 9 August from 8pm. The bar opens at 7pm. It runs for 75 minutes and contains some coarse language. Tickets are available from the Box Office on 5176 3559.
