Important Tips For SeniorsLocal seniors have the opportunity to get important lifestyle and health tips from health professionals thanks to the Bass Coast Shire Council Seniors’ Forum. By Bass Coast - 17th September 2010 - Back to News The forum will be held on Thursday, 7 October in the Wonthaggi Civic Centre Council Chamber from 10.00am.
Council’s Community Strengthening Manager, Antoinette Mitchell, announced the topic for this forum - Helping you to remain active and independent.
"This is a really important topic for many of our senior residents," said Ms Mitchell.
"Professional Occupational Therapists from Bass Coast Regional Health and Bass Coast Community Health will explain their service and how they can assist residents to remain active and independent in their later years.
"The Therapists will be able to explain twho is eligible for their service and what sort of information they require for people to access the service..
"They will have a selection of independent living aids for attendees to have a try while at the forum.
"Attendees will be able to ask questions of the therapists" continued Ms Mitchell.
The Seniors’ Forums are growing in popularity with older residents from across the Shire. This is the fifth forum that Council has hosted.
The forums cover a range of topics that are imporant to the health and wellbeing of senior residents.

The forum is part of this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival. A local program has been developed and is now available. Events across the Shire will run from 3 October to 10 October.
