Mr Harris brings extensive experience of politics and government, and joins from the office of Victorian Nationals’ MP, Hon. Darren Chester, Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport. Mr Harris was previously Chief of Staff to a number of state and federal Nationals ministers.

Victorian President Neil Pankhurst has welcomed Mr Harris’ appointment as the Party ramps up preparations for next year’s State Election.

"Matt’s background in driving policy outcomes for regional communities and his experience as a senior member of last year’s highly successful federal election campaign team will be invaluable for the Party," Mr Pankhurst said.

"I look forward to working with Matt, our members and the Parliamentary team to ensure that regional Victorians are well represented in Spring Street."

Mr Harris will carry on the great work of departing State Director Sally Branson.

"Sally provided great leadership to the Party as State Director, particularly driving our historic victory in the federal seat of Murray, and I thank her for her ongoing commitment to The Nationals and to regional Victoria," Mr Pankhurst said.

Mr Harris will commence in the role immediately.
