Australia Day pool activities enjoyed despite weather

Latrobe City celebrated Australia Day with activities and free access to their three outdoor pool facilities despite the cool weather.

While attendances at Moe and Yallourn North were reported to be low, the recently refurbished Traralgon Outdoor Pool still managed to attract almost forty people to enjoy the activities.

Traralgon Outdoor Pool Manager, Sandra Ashford, said Nessie the Monster had made a real splash with the kids who tried to reach the head, and dive off the end.

"Snorkeling and Scuba diving also featured on the day with special ‘come and try’ sessions conducted by Rob Timmers of SEAL Diving Services," Ms Ashford explained.

"The kids snorkeled and scuba-dived the length of the pool, and duck dived for colorful fish which were on the bottom of the pool. The kids were provided with a whole new experience in underwater swimming techniques."

"Many said it was warmer in the water than outside," she added.

"When the kids weren't in the pool they were enjoying a snag from the barbecue which was sponsored by Golden Bread Basket of Morwell.

"The staff and those who attended the activities made the most of the day and everyone had a great time, despite the weather."
