Mr Northe said "The Coalition Government invested $200,000 in funding to the Wakakirri Secondary School Challenge following an announcement that Rock Eisteddfod Challenge would no longer hold the nation-wide competition in 2013.

"The Wakakirri Secondary School Challenge involves schools from across Victoria who tell their story through performance, music and dance in a finale extravaganza," Mr Northe said.

"Congratulations to Traralgon College for taking out the Best Staging and Best Overall Set Design."

He said I’m very proud of the extremely talented students and teachers of Traralgon College and for their dedication and hard work.

Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith thanked Wakakirri for partnering with the Coalition Government and hosting a fantastic dance and music event.

"Victoria produces some of the most creative young people in Australia and Wakakirri provides the perfect platform for them to develop and showcase their talents," Mr Smith said.

The Wakakirri Secondary School Challenge was judged by a panel of industry experts, including So You Think You Can Dance judge, Jason Coleman and former Dancing with the Stars judge, Mark Wilson.

"Judging Wakakirri was a real privilege as there was such a variety of talent and themes. All the schools lifted when they walked on stage. It was amazing. Congratulations!" Mr Wilson said.

Wakakirri Founder and Managing Director Adam Loxley said the launch of Wakakirri Secondary School Challenge into Victoria had been extremely successful.

"We are looking forward to creating an expanded competition in 2014 and encourage schools to register early to avoid disappointment."

The Wakakirri Secondary School Challenge is part of the Coalition Government’s Youth Statement Engage, Involve, Create which aims to see all young Victorians engaged in education and training, involved in their local communities and creating enterprise and culture.
