Have Your Say On The Traralgon Activity Centre Plan Draft Key Directions ReportLatrobe City Council is seeking public comment on the Traralgon Activity Centre Plan draft Key Directions Report. By Latrobe City - 8th December 2010 - Back to News The draft Key Directions Report was developed using extensive community consultation and detailed background reports which were completed as an earlier part of the project. Community comment is now being sought on the ideas that will underpin the final town centre plan and urban design framework.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Darrell White, commented that the plan outlines a guiding framework for the growth of the Traralgon Town Centre for the next 20 years and beyond.
"Traralgon is a major urban centre of Latrobe City and the town is experiencing significant growth. By developing the Traralgon Activity Centre Plan draft Key Directions Report, Council has shown a commitment to ensuring residents and visitors of Latrobe City will experience Traralgon with an enhanced vibrancy and liveability into the future," Cr White explained.
Latrobe City’s general manager built and natural environment, Peter Quigley, highlighted that the Draft Key Directions report proposes 18 key directions.
"The main themes of the draft report include defining the town character, improving the landscape visible from the Princes Highway, the economic role of the town, approaches to car parking management and traffic congestion, linkages with parkland, connectivity and safety for pedestrians and cyclists, public realm and urban design improvements, and the identification of youth space.
"The report will be available for comment for a period of ten weeks and written submissions must be received by close of business on Tuesday 15 February 2011," Mr Quigley concluded.
The Traralgon Activity Centre Plan draft Key Directions Report is available on Council’s website at www.latrobe.vic.gov.au.
