By Bass Coast Shire - 14th February 2003 - Back to News

Local business T&S Construction will build the new San Remo Pre-School and Community Centre. Bass Coast Shire Council awarded T&S Construction the contract last week. Work started on the new facility this week.

"The Pre-school and Community Centre is very important for the growing communities of San Remo, Newhaven and Cape Woolamai so we’re delighted to start construction," said Cr John Gains, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council. "We equally delighted to award the contract to a local business."

The new facility is located on Back Beach Road and will include pre-school, community room and meeting rooms. Visiting professionals and local community groups will use the meeting rooms.

It is expected that the San Remo Pre-school and Community Centre will be ready for action in July 2003.

Bass Coast Shire Council has committed $375,000 to the project. The State Government has contributed $250,000 from the Living Regions, Living Suburbs Program. The community will also be contributing funding and in-kind support to the project.
