New headquarters officially opened last Friday By Bass Coast Shire - 14th February 2003 - Back to News The Hon Andre Haermeyer MP, Minister for Police and Emergency Services, officially opened the new headquarters of the State Emergency Services’ Wonthaggi Unit last Friday (31 January 2003).
The Wonthaggi Unit moved from a site on Baillieu Street, Wonthaggi, to larger premises at 319 White Road, Wonthaggi.
Bass Coast Shire Council helped facilitate the move to the new premises and provided $15,000 for reestablishing the Unit at the new site.
During the opening ceremony, Mr Haermeyer handed the keys of a new general purpose rescue truck to Mr Bob Phillips, Unit Controller of the SES Wonthaggi Unit.
Mr Ken Brown, President of the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club also presented keys of a new 4 wheel drive vehicle to the Unit. The Wonthaggi Workmens’ Club, Wonthaggi Rotary Club and the Wonthaggi Lions Club were all thanked for their financial support to the Wonthaggi Unit over many years.
