The reception is part of Senior Citizens’ Week celebrations. 12 Bass Coast senior citizens will attend.
A group of Bass Coast senior citizens who attended last year’s reception enjoyed themselves immensely. The group toured Government House’s ballroom, drawing room and dining room. They also enjoyed musical entertainment and refreshments.
Jeanette Draper, Manager of Aged and Disability Services with Council, explained that nominees must be 60 years or older and not in full time employment.
"Another of the criteria is that people should have made or be making a contribution to the community in a voluntary capacity," she said. "Nominees should not have previously attended a reception at Government House."
People interested in nominating to attend the reception at Government House should contact Bass Coast Shire Council for a nomination form on 5671 2211 or 5951 3311. Nominations close Friday 1 February 2002.
