"The workshops are intended to reflect the information needs of Latrobe citizens in a global community. They provide a recognition and reinforcement of the unique cultural heritage of this community, while also recognising the social value of the library service, and encouraging literacy and language skills development," Cr Jenkins said.
"Access to information through public libraries is becoming increasingly important, and though the means of delivering today’s information is ever changing, our library service is keeping pace with those changes, so that we meet the expanding information needs of our citizens, Cr Jenkins said.
"There are exciting initiatives being undertaken to enhance Latrobe’s library service by providing new library facilities in Traralgon and Morwell as part of the corporate headquarters project, and this all bodes well for delivering an even higher level of service to library users in the future," Cr Jenkins concluded.
