Local Volunteer Exhibition To Tour The ShireCelebrate and participate By David Wall - 1st April 2002 - Back to News "Celebrate and Participate" an exhibition that showcases the work of local volunteers will tour Bass Coast Shire from 21 April 2002. The exhibition will be on display on 21 and 22 April at the Cowes Cultural Centre before touring many locations throughout the Shire later in the year.
Volunteers from more than 45 local organisations are showcased in the photographic exhibition that has almost 60 pictures.
The exhibition has been organised by Bass Coast Shire Council using State Government funding.
Josie Kent, Curator of the exhibition, said that she has been extremely excited to work on a project that celebrates the wonderful efforts of volunteers in the Shire.
"Having worked with volunteers, and being one myself, I know the valuable effort and rewards that come from this participation," said Josie.
"The major aim of this Exhibition is to celebrate the contribution that volunteers make to our community and tell the myriad stories from the photographs and written information supplied by the groups," she said.
Josie said that she believes the way the photographs will be displayed will not only provide a terrific exhibition, but also provide a thought provoking read about their activities.
"The exhibition tells tales of hope, caring, courage, enthusiasm, invention, fun and love," enthused Josie. "The stories contained in the exhibition traverse all ages and many aspects of our diverse community."
"Celebrate and Participate" will be travelling throughout the Shire at various venues for the rest of 2002. Dates and venues will be advertised, and more details are available from all of Council’s Customer Service Centres.
