Heyfield Skate Park receives welcome boost

Wellington Shire Council has won $50,000 State Government funding for the proposed Heyfield Multi-Purpose Skate/BMX Facility.

By Wellington Shire Council - 2nd June 2004 - Back to News

This funding will be combined with $20,000 from council, and a substantial contribution from the Heyfield Skate Park Committee, to complete the design and construction of a multi-purpose activity centre by mid 2005 in Heyfield catering for skate-boarding, in-line skating and freestyle BMX riding.

The Heyfield Skate Park is part of the council’s ongoing drive to support the provision of cost-free recreation facilities and programs for Wellington’s youth including skate parks, the Wellington Youth Space and FReeZA.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "Wellington Shire Council has been working in partnership with the Heyfield community for a long time to get this much-needed project off the ground. This project is the result of the hard work of a very dedicated group of volunteers and will provide an invaluable recreational outlet for youngsters in the town."
