DPI Ellinbank Community Open DayFor over 50 years, the district of Ellinbank has been a home to Victorian Government agricultural research. By Department of Primary Industries - 8th July 2005 - Back to News Known simply as "Ellinbank" to the locals and dairy farming community, the site itself has been transformed from a small research station back in the early 1950’s to become an internationally recognised centre for world class science and extension.
Since the Victorian Government’s commitment to invest $12.6 million into DPI Ellinbank, the site has now being completely redeveloped as Australia’s largest state-of-the-art dairy and environmental research facility.
Members of the community will have an opportunity to visit DPI Ellinbank on Sunday 31 July, when the site will be open to the public from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

- See a showcase of DPI Ellinbank projects and displays – themes include: Environmental Management, Feed Strategies, New Farm Management Technologies, Water Quality, Dairy, Horticulture, Gippsland Agribusiness, Animal Health, Pest Plants & Animals.
- Meet the scientists, extension and farm staff.
- Tour the new research and educational facilities.
- Learn about DPI’s industry partners.
- Watch the afternoon milking in the research dairy.
There will also be activities for the children. Refreshments will be available and entry is free.
Located south of Warragul, DPI Ellinbank is on Hazeldean Road, which can be accessed from Warragul, Yarragon and Korumburra.
