By Latrobe Shire Council - 23rd March 2004 - Back to News Dennis Coard, star of stage, screen and probably best known for his six years as ‘Michael’ on the popular television series ‘Home and Away’ will perform his delightful one-man show, ‘The Fall of the Roman Umpire’ at the Latrobe Regional Performing Arts Centre, Traralgon on Tuesday 30 March.
Latrobe City’s Performing Arts Box Office and Program Coordinator, Kathleen Roberts said that the show highlighted Coard’s impressive acting abilities as he performs characters from his past including his own grandfather and mother.
"Dennis opens the scrapbook of his life and takes the audience on an emotional and at times hilarious journey which includes his birth and early years in Ireland, migration to Australia, twenty years as an Outback Telecom Technician before becoming an actor at the age of 35.
"Births, deaths and marriages are all tackled in this wonderful celebration of life. It is a performance not to be missed," Ms Roberts added.
"Coard’s acting career has included work with Helen Morse, Geoffery Rush and Noel Ferrier to name just a few, with appearances in television shows such as State Coroner, Stingers and Guinevere Jones," Ms Roberts explained.
"We are delighted to welcome Dennis Coard and ‘The Fall of the Roman Umpire’ to the Morning Music Program. Complimentary tea and coffee will be served prior to the performance, from 10.30am. The show starts at 11am," Ms Roberts concluded. Tickets are priced at $11 and are available from the Box Office on 5176 3559 or from Select Music Systems, Traralgon on 5174 2849.
