Public meeting to seek ideas for Traralgon Show

A public meeting to seek additional input and ideas for this year’s Traralgon Show, will be held in the Function Room at the Traralgon Civic Centre in Kay Street, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 1 May.

Events Latrobe Manager, Janiene Ayre, said the Traralgon Agricultural Show was one of Latrobe City’s long-standing icons and had been a great success over the years, but the existing committee felt it was in need of some new ideas.

"Latrobe City is sponsoring this public meeting to encourage more people in the community to contribute their ideas towards making the Traralgon Show an ongoing and ever exciting community event.

"This year will be the 116th Traralgon Show, which is a significant achievement; but we need to pursue new ideas if we are going to generate ongoing support from Show visitors this November, and in the years to come," Ms Ayre said.

"In recent years the fireworks display on the Friday evening has thrilled the crowds, and in 2003 the ‘U Beaut Ute Competition’ attracted 45 entries. These activities have complemented the regular horse events and agricultural animal competitions, not to mention the ever popular sideshows and rides.

"However, we need to keep the momentum going and need to attract support from people in the community to input their ideas and be part of the committee that conducts the two-day event.

"If you have ideas for events or activities that could be incorporated into the Show, then please come and share these at the public meeting," Ms Ayre urged.
