Linfox VCAT Hearing Expected In September

Bass Coast Shire Council expects the final VCAT hearing regarding the proposed Linfox Property Group resort development on Phillip Island to take place in September.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 27th April 2007 - Back to News

Council’s Planning and Environment Director, Andrew Mason said the hearing may take a number of weeks.

"The revised plans submitted to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) in late February by the Linfox Property Group had a number of major changes.

"Some of the changes include 124 less units than originally proposed, a reduction in the number of villages from three to one and a changed golf course layout to accommodate the new design.

"However, we didn’t believe the revised plans contained enough information for us to form an opinion on them, so we requested further information," continued Mr Mason.

"At a VCAT directions hearing last week (on April 20), the Linfox Property Group provided most of the additional information we requested.

"The Council will now need to review the additional and forthcoming information and let VCAT know at another directions hearing on July 6 whether it has an opinion or a changed opinion on the development proposal, on the basis of the revised plans.

"Then a final hearing will be held in September," Mr Mason finished.
