Wellington Walk to Work Week

Wellington Shire Council is inviting the community to get involved with Walk to Work Week from 5 to 12 November.

Walk to Work Week is an initiative of the Pedestrian Council of Australia, and supported by Wellington Shire Council and Gippsport, and encourages the whole community to select a day from 5 to 12 November to walk to work or school.

This event complements National Walk to Work Day on 5 November - an annual, national initiative of the Federal Government designed to promote a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

More information about Walk to Work Week and National Walk to Work Day is available, including how you can play your part, is available by telephoning Wellington’s Recreation Development Officer, Michael Rowell on 1300 366 244 or by visiting www.walk.com.au .

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "This council wholeheartedly supports any initiative that encourages residents to get out there and lead healthy, active lifestyles. And we invite community groups, schools and individuals to get behind this initiative."
