Last Weeks of Arts Festival

The Creative Gippsland Arts festival will finish at the end of May, so don’t miss out on this celebration of our Creative Community

By Bass Coast - 22nd May 2012 - Back to News

In Bass Coast there are a variety of exhibitions, workshops, dance, vocal noshes, readings, performances and more on offer.

Bass Coast Shire Council Community and Economic Development Director, Steven Piasente, said there were some very talented people in the region and this festival highlighted them and their individuality.

"Council recognises the wonderful work of the event organisers and encourages you to support them. The program also has opportunities for you to get involved and bring out your own creative side.

"Look through the program for a chance to participate in a range of arts and creative pursuits," Mr Piasente said.

Here are just some of the amazing events you can be a part of.

Beginning this week is Self Portrait and all its Flaws, by members of the Bass Coast Artist Society at the Goods Shed Art Space, Wonthaggi. Drop in and see the way artists view themselves.

The program also has opportunities for you to get involved and bring out your own creative side. On the weekend of 19 and 20 May there are a number of workshops. Look through the program for a chance to sing, hula hoop, dance, act or Raku.

The Spiritual Art Exhibition at the Anglican Church Hall in Cowes opens on the last weekend of May. Pop in a see what the spiritual in everyday life means to artists and crafts persons.

For something different try Maris Moto, a creative development collaboration between a sculptor, a musician and a dancer, inspired by what the tide washes up.

End the month with a sing-a-long and a meal at Mitchell Community House in Wonthaggi.
