Relocating Yarram bus stops for greater convenience

Wellington Shire Council is in the process of relocating two V/Line bus stops in Yarram’s Commercial Road to a more convenient spot adjacent to the nearby Yarram Service Centre.

By Wellington Shire Council - 22nd March 2004 - Back to News

Relocating next to the main car park at the front of the centre is a direct response to requests from the local community. It is designed to address present issues with parking and traffic congestion along the stretch of Commercial Road where the bus stops have been located up to now - ensuring that V/Line buses stopping in the centre of the town no longer occupy otherwise-needed car parking spaces there.

Importantly, anyone wishing to drive into the centre of Yarram to connect with the bus can leave their vehicle conveniently in the main car park.

The new stop will officially take over from the Commercial Road locations and become operational from Monday 5 April.

The project is a joint initiative involving the council, V/Line and the Department of Infrastructure.

Said Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Webb: "We are pleased to have been able to act on behalf of the local community regarding this issue and are confident that the new bus stop location will solve problems with traffic congestion and parking in Commercial Road."
