Wellington Businesses short-listed for awards

Wellington Shire Council would like to congratulate four local businesses announced as finalists in this year’s Federation Health Gippsland Business Awards.

Maffra digital media company, DM3D Studios, has scooped a double nomination in the areas of Export and Information Communication Technology. This cutting-edge company provides services including 3D virtual environments, animation, and software research and development. An impressive 98% of the company’s work is exported overseas to major international organisations including space agency, NASA.

East Sale’s aviation consulting firm, Edge Aviation, is up once again for the Service Award after taking out this category last year. The company provides professional advice, aircraft design, weighing and accident investigation for the aviation industry.

Contemporary, Sale-based restaurant, F & C Fish and Chippery is nominated in the Hospitality category. This new take on an old Aussie favourite has proven popular with locals and visitors alike.

Occupational health and safety consulting firm, SafeWise Pty Ltd, is up for the Best New Business Award. It was established in April 2003 and has experienced substantial growth. Its head office is located in Sale and there are branches in Ballarat and Melbourne,

2005 marks the third year that Wellington Shire Council has sponsored the Tourism category which was won last year by the energy technology visitor centre PowerWorks.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault: "On behalf of the council I would like to congratulate all of the Wellington businesses who have been short-listed for these awards. Our shire is home to many innovative, hard working and determined businesses and it is great to see them recognised like this. I would like to wish each candidate the best of luck for the awards and also for their future business operations."

The winners of the Federation Health Gippsland Business Awards will be announced on Friday 27 May.
