Battle of the Bands is back!

Wellington Shire Council is urging all local bands from across the municipality to enter this year’s local heat of the Push Start Battle of the Bands competition, which will be held on 16 September at the Sale Memorial Hall.

Battle of the Bands is a state-wide competition run by The Push - a non-profit, state-wide youth entertainment organisation – and supported by both FReeZA, State Government and local councils. Winners from the local event will progress to a regional heat in Warragul in October and then possibly on to the state finals where they will compete for major prizes.

Last year’s runner-up in the Wellington heat was Sale band Quarterstone, and the boys will be back to go one better in this year’s competition.

Bands can register for the local heat by telephoning Wellington Shire Council’s Youth Development Officer, David Roberts on 1300 366 244 or SMS their details to 0408 109 586 before August 22.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault: "There’s a lot of great, undiscovered musical talent in our shire and we strongly encourage local bands to enter the competition. This is a fantastic opportunity for local bands to put themselves in front of an audience and gain some much deserved recognition."
