Fancy an early morning dip at the outdoor pool? For the first time in a number of years, the Traralgon and Moe outdoor pools will be offering residents the opportunity to take an early morning dip this summer season. By Latrobe City Council - 29th November 2005 - Back to News For the first time in a number of years, the Traralgon and Moe outdoor pools will be offering residents the opportunity to take an early morning dip this summer seasn, and a healthy breakfast can be enjoyed by those taking the plunge.
Latrobe City’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Buckley, said that as part of Council’s initiatives for the outdoor pool season this year, the Traralgon and Moe outdoor pools will be providing a venue on alternate days for sporting clubs and tri-athletes to train. "This will also give our residents a healthy open air fitness activity to enjoy this summer," Mr Buckley said.
Latrobe City’s leisure centre coordinator, Georgina Mitchell, said that the Traralgon outdoor pool will be open for the early morning swims between 6am and 8.30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the Moe outdoor pool between 6am and 8.30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Early morning swimming commences on Monday 5 December.
"As an added attraction, those participating will be served a healthy breakfast from the pool kiosk. It will be a great way to start a summer day," Ms Mitchell said.
Early morning swimmers will need to purchase a ‘multi morning swim pass’ which is available at a cost of $25 for 10 swims and $40 for 20 swims, and includes the breakfast. Swim passes can be purchased at the Moe Newborough Sports Centre, the Morwell Leisure Centre, the Churchill Leisure Centre, or the outdoor pools during normal operating hours from Saturday 3 December.
Ms Mitchell said that as well as being a great day out for all the family, the swimming pools and surrounding grounds offer the perfect alternative location for sporting groups and clubs to train their players.
"Open air swimming can provide a strenuous workout without placing pressure on joints and limbs, and the pool grounds can be used for alternate drills and strength sessions," Ms Mitchell added.
Interested parties should contact one of Latrobe City’s leisure centres for further information.
Normal operating hours at the outdoor pools will be 3.30pm – 5.30pm weekdays and 12 noon – 5.30pm at weekends from 3 December – 21 December 2005; and from 30 January – 13 March 2006. From December 2005 – 29 January 2006, opening hours will be 12noon – 5.30pm daily (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day).
