National Water Week runs from 18 October – 24 October 2009. This year’s theme is ‘securing our water future’.

To celebrate, Westernport Water is giving away free outdoor flow restrictors to customers who visit the Newhaven office.

"We know our customers are interested in saving water but recent figures released by the Minister for Water, Tim Holding, showed Phillip Island & District still has a way to go," Managing Director, Murray Jackson said.

"In 2008/09 our average residential per capita consumption in litres per person per day was 202.

"This is above households in Ballarat, Sunbury and Macedon that used an average 151 litres per person per day. Melbourne used 159 litres."

Westernport Water recently finished its showerhead replacement program which proved very popular with residents.

If you would like to pick up a free flow restrictor, call into the Westernport Water office at 2 Boys Home Road, Newhaven, 3925.

Over summer, the organisation will also be running a survey to measure progress in the take-up of water-saving devices like efficient showerheads.

The Westernport area remains on permanent water savings measures. You can check these measures at www.westernportwater.com.au or phone 1300 720 711.
