Stay Local This Summer
Affordable local activities for the summer holidays.
A partnership between Latrobe City Libraries, Leisure, Performing Arts, Latrobe Regional Gallery and Living Well Latrobe, ‘Stay Local’ offers free or low cost activities in Latrobe City for families over the summer school holiday period.
An initiative of the Latrobe City Council Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, the program has successfully engaged hundreds of families in free and low cost activities over a number of school holidays.
Identified by the community as needing greater access to community events and a range of affordable activities offered within the region, Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Dan Clancey said Council was pleased to be able to offer local families with an opportunity to connect with others in the community.
"The success of the Stay Local campaign has seen this summer’s offering as the biggest campaign yet," Mayor Clancey said.
"To have the ability to take children and family along to free or low cost activities and enjoy a new experience from dancing to kite making workshops, movie nights, art activities including Manga drawing and crafts is very important for our community.
"I encourage residents to make the most of the broad offering that the Stay Local campaign has to offer these school holidays. It is a great way to allow children’s imagination to wander, to meet and connect with others in the community and provides respite from the heat and smoky conditions, all the while remaining close to home and exploring the range of facilities that our Regional City has to offer."
Stay Local activities will run until January 27, a complete program can be found at: www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/Staylocal
