Rebate Scheme

Gippsland Water is encouraging its customers to save money by taking up the Victorian Government’s Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate Scheme.

By Gippsland Water - 12th November 2007 - Back to News

The need to save water has never been greater, with Victoria still experiencing below average rainfall and low stream flows.

The Victorian Government is offering a rebate scheme for the purchase of water efficient appliances to conserve our precious water resource. The rebate scheme began on 1 July 2007, and runs until 30 June 2009.

Victorians are responding to water scarcity with more than 160,000 rebates being claimed since January 2003 when the first rebate scheme was introduced. The installation of these water efficient appliances has lead Victorians to saving more than 1.4 billion litres of water each year.

Only one rebate for each core product can be claimed per eligible property (residential property connected to an urban reticulated water supply and have an account with a Victorian urban water supplier). Eligible customers are able to claim two rebates for water efficient showerheads per property.

The home appliances and their rebates are as follows:

  • Permanent grey water system - $500
  • Hot water recirculator - $150
  • Dual-flush toilet - $50
  • Water efficient shower head (3 stars rated) - $10
  • Water conservation audit - $50

Customers may be eligible to claim a rebate of up to $1,000 for the purchase and installation of a rainwater tank.

Rebate application forms and more information is available by visiting www.ourwater.vic.gov.au.
