Great prizes on offer with free holiday reading club for local kids!All Wellington kids are invited to join in the fun and excitement being offered these summer holidays through the Reading Rulz club at your Wellington Shire Council library- it’s free to join and there are plenty of prizes to win! By Wellington Shire Council - 6th December 2004 - Back to News Reading Rulz is a nationwide program hosted locally by the Wellington Library Service and is all about sharing books and writing experiences. In addition there are great games, craft and storytelling activities for everyone to enjoy!
Those who participate have the chance to win fantastic prizes for their reading efforts including books, bookmarks, stickers, a personal CD player and vouchers.
From 13 December, all kids need to do is get down to their local library and join-up to receive a Reading Rulz club kit containing activity sheets, a reading record, a bookmark and stickers. Then all that is required is to pick a comfortable reading level and read 10 books before 21 January.
The Reading Rulz website, which gives participants the chance to have their writing and art work published online and chat with others about their positive reading experiences, can be found at www.connectqld.org.au/readingrulz.
Said Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Webb : "The council is always delighted to provide learning opportunities like this to our younger residents. This fun and exciting way to enjoy reading will be a great way to keep our Wellington kids entertained over the summer school holidays, while at the same time promoting the importance and benefits of reading and creative thought."
