Member for Morwell and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business & Tourism, Russell Northe, said the inspiring Small Business Big Marketing event, attended by hundreds of people, was one of the most popular on the festival’s calendar of events.

"Victoria’s Small Business Festival has been enormously effective with thousands of small business operators and would be entrepreneurs flocking to hundreds of events across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

"It has also been productive in highlighting the many year round services offered to small business by the Victorian Government, such as the Small Business Mentoring Service and the Mobile Business Centre.

"Festival events have covered: business development and planning, employing and managing people, financial management, marketing and social media, online business and starting a business.

"Small business is vital to Victoria’s economy. There are almost 530,000 small businesses in Victoria which account for: 96 per cent of all businesses in the State; 1.2 million jobs - which is almost half of our private sector employment and 30 per cent of our State’s sales and output.

"But small business needs access to the latest business trends, ideas and technological developments to keep them competitive, growing and refreshed.

"The Small Business Big Marketing event is aimed squarely at helping to arm small business with the best and most up to date tools to grow the business.

"Marketing is all about getting the right product in the right quantity, to the right place, at the right time and making a profit in the process and this event presented imaginative ideas to do that from the best in the business.

"Leading marketers, such as Russel Howcroft, Executive General Manager of Network Ten, Steve Sammartino, the Strategy and Digital Director at the Grey Group, Abigail Forsyth, the CEO of KeepCup and Toby Travanner from the Learning Company, highlighted the latest marketing trends to small business operators and offered effective marketing strategies to maximise business potential.

"Sustaining and growing small business through exposure to the latest techniques and information has been at the core of the most successful small business festival yet in the long history of this now highly regarded annual Victorian event, Mr Northe said.
