Meet Graham at Latrobe Regional Gallery

Latrobe Regional Gallery is the only venue east of Melbourne that will host Graham, a stunning sculptural work, commissioned by the Transport Accident Commission and created by artist Patricia Piccinini

Latrobe City Council’s arts director, Dr Mark Themann, said that this new work by Piccinini, explores what we might look like if our bodies were built to survive on our roads.

"The work is a fascinating combination of evolutionary science and human vulnerability. Graham shows us why he is 'the only person designed to survive on our roads.' He is a sober reminder of just how vulnerable our bodies really are.

"Graham was created in collaboration with Royal Melbourne Hospital trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield and Monash University Accident Research Centre crash investigation expert Dr David Logan. The work merges art, medical science and road safety and also includes a unique Augmented Reality experience, the first of its kind in Australia""

"Make sure you take the time to visit Latrobe Regional Gallery so you can meet Graham and discover why he looks the way he does," Dr Themann concluded.

Graham is on display at Latrobe Regional Gallery from Sunday 27 November to Thursday 15 December, during opening hours. Only 30 people can be admitted to see the exhibition at any one time, so bookings for groups and schools are essential. To book, call Nicole on 5128 5600 or email Nicole.brindley@latrobe.vic.gov.au
