Dr. Craig Shepherd of the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research (NIEIR), will present the findings from a recent shire-wide consultation program conducted on behalf of the council. He will also outline proposed strategic directions to address key issues.

This meeting will provide the community with an ideal opportunity to ask questions about this Population Analysis - undertaken to assist the council to plan and prioritise, strategies and actions that will address the impact population shifts will have on the local economy and services.

Said Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer, Lyndon Webb: "This initiative has revealed invaluable information about our population make-up and the future needs of our residents. The current shift in our population will undoubtedly affect the shire across the board including our local business, agriculture and tourism industries, as well as essentials education, health and community services.

"As we take these steps to prepare for our future, we strongly encourage the community to attend this special information session and to be actively involved with the development of what will be an essential initiative for Wellington."
