Peter Gault – your new MayorWellington Shire Council’s new Mayor is Peter Gault. By Wellington Shire Council - 9th December 2004 - Back to News The Sale-born councillor is looking forward to his new challenge, which builds on his already extensive community experience.
He is actively involved in initiatives geared at improving lifestyle and business development opportunities within Wellington and across the Gippsland region.
Councillor Gault represents the council on four of the shire’s recreation reserve committees – Briagolong, Newry, Maffra and the Cameron Sporting Complex – where he works in partnership with these groups to develop and implement effective management strategies.
He is chair of the Economic Development Reference Group, an advisory group to help steer the shire’s business and tourism development initiatives, and the West Sale Advisory Group.
He and his wife Sue ran a local dairy enterprise in Stratford for ten years before graduating from share farming into farm ownership with a 120 hectare dairy property in Tinamba. The couple have two sons.
Councillor Jeff Amos has been elected Deputy Mayor.
