FReeZACentralWellington Shire Council is inviting its younger residents to attend a free FReeZACentral workshop covering work in the music industry on 22 September. By Wellington Shire Council - 13th September 2004 - Back to News This new, four-year Victorian Government initiative will provide more than 2,000 Victorians aged 16 to 25 with free, accredited learning, mentoring and practical experience in large-scale music events, to help them launch music industry careers.
Sale in Wellington will be the only location in Gippsland to host the workshop, which is being held at the Sale Memorial Hall and will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm. It will be led by experienced trainers from Victoria University and established music industry professionals - earning participants credit towards a Victoria University music industry qualification.
Fifty youths will be selected from a total of seven workshops around the state to go on to the FReeZACentral Mentorship Program. They will receive further assistance in career development and work on the FReeZACentral Tour to be held later in the year.
Registration is open until 15 September for the local workshop and can be completed online at www.freezacentral.vic.gov.au, or by telephoning The Push on 9380 1277 or Wellington Shire’s Youth Development Officer David Roberts on 1300 366 244.
Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "This workshop will provide invaluable background and experience to our younger residents wishing to launch a career in the music industry and Wellington is extremely lucky to have secured one of only seven workshops being held across the state. The council would like to encourage interested youths to participate in this initiative and set the ball rolling for a successful career."
