Create on-going employment opportunities
Mr Darren Chester said, "Mirridong provides exceptional services and facilities to people living with a disability. As demand for its services grow it is important Mirridong's capacity does as well.
"Seven additional people will be able to live in these units and receive the necessary care and facilities they require." Mr Chester said the units would make a real difference in the day-to-day lives of some of the most vulnerable in the community.
"These units will cater to those living with a disability now and into the future and help to ease the worry about the future for their families. This has been a significant project for Yarram which will help support local jobs and create on-going employment opportunities for around 14 people." Mr Chester said.
Providing the best care and comfort
Mirridong Services chief executive officer Doreen Milne said the official opening was an exciting milestone. "We have been watching the construction of the units over the last couple of months and it's very exciting that we can now use them and continue to cater to the community's needs," Ms Milne said.
"We focused on the design to ensure the units can function as both a workplace and a home to provide the best level of care and comfort possible. Mirridong pride ourselves on delivering exceptional services to those living with a disability and upgrades such as these only improve the level of care we can provide. I would like to thank the Federal Government for their support."
