Young Students Showcase Creative ArtworksOn display at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon is a selection of creative artworks by grade 4 to grade 6 students from St Michael’s primary school in Traralgon. By Latrobe City - 1st May 2012 - Back to News Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the education exhibition program at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre is a wonderful opportunity for local schools to participate in local arts life.
"It’s not just about hanging the students’ work on the wall, it’s about experiencing the entire process of organising and holding an exhibition. Seeing their artworks on display is the culmination of everything that led to that point," Ms Roberts said.
Jenny Hanrahan, St Michael’s Art Teacher said that the exhibition showcased a diverse range of art mediums.
"The students have used stencil printing, pastels and charcoal portraits. They are excited about being given the opportunity to showcase their work to the wider community. They are very proud that their art has been selected for display and are looking forward to the official opening of the exhibition," Ms Hanrahan said.
The official opening of the exhibition will be held at 4.30pm on Tuesday 1 May at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre. All members of the community are invited to attend. RSVP to the Latrobe Performing Arts Box Office on 5176 3559.
The exhibition continues until Wednesday 16 May during Box Office opening hours Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm.
