Work starts on Moe and Jindivick school upgrades Primary schools to be upgraded to better learning facilities for students. By news@gippsland - 28th April 2021 - Back to News Better facilities are on their way for students at Moe (South Street) Primary School and Jindivick Primary School with works commencing on important upgrades thanks to the Andrews Labor Government. Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced works are underway at Moe (South Street Primary School to deliver an upgrade to an outdoor classroom.

Works are also underway at Jindivick Primary School to upgrade the school’s outdoor areas with a synthetic surface to improve safety and accessibility. The Labor Government has provided $29,120 to go towards Moe (South Street) Primary School’s upgrade and $52,150 towards Jindivick Primary School’s upgrade.
New schools to open
In the past five years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
While much of this funding went on new schools and significant upgrades to help meet increasing demand, the Minor Capital Works fund is about delivering the small projects that make a big difference while also supporting local jobs.
Improving learning environments
Projects through the Minor Capital Works Fund will be progressively delivered with all projects to be completed by the end of 2022. The Victorian Budget 2020/21 invests $70 million in the new Minor Capital Works Fund, which includes $20 million as previously announced as part of the Building Works Package.
More than 300 Victorian government schools have been allocated funding to fast-track priority projects under the Minor Capital Works Fund to improve learning environments as well as the condition and character of schools.
Great school for every student
Minister for Education James Merlino said, "Every student should have a great school, no matter where they live. That’s why we’re investing in hundreds of small but important projects that will make a big difference for schools and create jobs for Victorians."
Modern and innovative learning environments
Member for Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "While our record investment into shared and community spaces continues across the region, we are also making sure that our schools have accessible, modern and innovative learning environments."
"These improvements to outdoor spaces at Moe South Street Primary and Jindivick Primary are a really important way to make sure that students have more spaces outside to learn, play, and spend time together."
