Pets in the Valley Expo returns
Following the success of last year’s inaugural Pets in the Valley expo, Latrobe City Council, along with supporting organisations, is organising the expo again this year, to be held at Old Gippstown on Sunday 9 April from 10am to 3pm.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said the pet expo would provide the community with access to information, products and advice in a fun, family-friendly environment."What better way to make sure animal owners understand their responsibilities, than by giving them advice, support and resources in one location? The event brings together vets, animal service providers, animal-related businesses and Council’s animal management team so there will be a diverse range of products and expert knowledge on hand.
"The day will also include demonstrations from the Gippsland Obedience Dog Club and the German Shepherd Club as well as competitions for community member’s pets to take part in, such as Best Smile, Best Dressed and Best Trick," Cr O’Callaghan said.
"There will also be a chance to browse the market for products or services, have a pet portrait taken, or visit one of the adoption or rescue services.
"The event is taking place the day before the annual state-wide animal registration renewal is due. If your pet is unregistered, you can talk to a member of our animal management team to guide you through the process. Caring for an animal is more than just feeding it. It is about providing exercise and shelter and more importantly security and safety - for you and your family, friends and neighbours. Microchipping, desexing and registration provide for peace of mind and a happy pet.
"Visit our pet expo and discover just how rewarding pet ownership can be. You are more than welcome to bring your animal to the event, but they must be vaccinated and kept on a leash," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
The Pets in the Valley at Old Gippstown will be held on Sunday 9 April from 10am to 3pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
