Free Green Waste Disposal

Bass Coast Shire Council is providing its usual free green waste disposal service in the lead up to summer.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 26th October 2007 - Back to News

Council’s Waste Management Officer, Peter Roberts, urged residents to take advantage of the offer.

"Household green waste can be disposed of free-of-charge from 1 November to 10 December 2007 at any Council Recycling and Waste Transfer Station," said Mr Roberts.

"Hopefully this will encourage people to clean up their land prior to fire season."

Mr Roberts reminded residents that weeds cannot be put in green waste.

"Weeds can’t be included in our green waste because of their potential to spread through the mulch that is sold back to the public," explained Mr Roberts.

"However, up to two 70 litre bags per week of household waste, including wrapped weeds, can be disposed of free-of-charge all year round.

"If you are transporting weeds to the tip please make sure they are bagged or have an effective cover to help stop weed seed being dispersed on roadsides," reminded Mr Roberts.
