Ensay Waste Collection ExpandedWaste collection in Ensay will be expanded soon following a decision by East Gippsland Shire at its last council meeting. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 27th August 2004 - Back to News Councillors voted unanimously to close the Ensay landfill, expand domestic collection using 120 litre bins and provide a transfer trailer to take the refuse away.
Mayor Harvey Bates said a number of options on how best to provide an efficient and cost effective service to residents had been considered by council.
"The final decision follows two face-to-face meetings between residents, Councillors and Council officers
"We appreciate the input from Ensay residents and now believe that following the consultation process we have found a solution that balances community needs with Council’s ability to fund an expanded service," he said.
"The next stage will be talk to residents about the location of the transfer trailer."
Council’s Waste Management Coordinator Katie Zagami said the new service would come into effect on 1 October and service a total of 43 households
"Council will now write to each resident and advise details of the expanded service,’ she said.
"In line with Council practice we will also periodically review the expanded collection to ensure it is operating efficiently and providing the best possible service to householders."
