Grantville Environment Review Committee Needs You!

Bass Coast Shire Council and the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is inviting the residents of Grantville and surrounding districts to a public meeting regarding sand extraction operations within the Bass Coast Shire.

The meeting will be held at the Grantville Community Hall at 7pm on Thursday 1 June, 2006.

The purpose of the meeting is to select local community representatives for the Grantville Environment Review Committee (ERC).

The function of the Grantville ERC is to review the environmental performance of local quarry operators and to enhance communication between industry, government agencies and the community.

An Environment Review Committee (ERC) is a review body created by the Department of Primary Industries as a condition of operation for selected mines and extractive industry sites. Its primary function is to review the operator’s environmental performance and enhance communication between industry, government agencies and the community.

Expressions of Interest are being sought from local residents to represent the interests of the community on the Environment Review Committee. Expressions of Interest must state your reasons for wanting to join the ERC and include your name, address and telephone number. Submissions must be lodged by 24 May, 2006 and should be sent to:
