Motorists Curb Fuel Costs With Lpg

Almost 1,000 motorists in Gippsland have converted their cars to LPG since the Federal Government introduced new rebates last year.

By Peter McGauran - 15th June 2007 - Back to News

Nationals Member for Gippsland Peter McGauran said the Government had so far paid out more than $1.8 million to Gippslanders from Morwell to East Gippsland under the LPG Vehicle Scheme.

"The Government is offering $2,000 subsidies to encourage people to convert their cars to LPG fuel," Mr McGauran said.

"A grant of $1,000 will also be paid following the purchase of a new vehicle which is fuelled by LPG.

"By converting their cars to LPG, locals can save money on fuel, reduce engine wear and maintenance costs and significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions."

Mr McGauran encouraged anyone who is considering converting to LPG or purchasing an LPG dedicated vehicle to contact the Ausindustry hotline on 13 28 46 or visit the website at www.ausindustry.gov.au
