Traralgon Outdoor Pool Enjoying Bumper Season Of EventsThe Traralgon Outdoor Pool is enjoying a bumper season of events so far and with the weather currently warm and sunny swimmers can lap up the good times. By Latrobe City - 24th January 2012 - Back to News Latrobe City’s mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen, said that the 2011/12 outdoor pool season was half way through an exciting program of events.
"Already the Traralgon Outdoor pool has hosted a number of events ranging from AFL recovery sessions to a pool party for the visiting international tennis players.
"In December, Hawthorn Football Club used the venue for a recovery session, with many big names coming through the gates. It was great to see the football players happily sign autographs for the eager fans waiting out the front of the facility to catch a glimpse of their heroes.
"Hawthorn provided some great feedback about how much they enjoyed the session at the pool," Cr Vermeulen said.
"Players and their entourage from the Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International tennis tournament enjoyed a barbecue and a swim during their pool party recently. It was a great venue for these up and coming stars to enjoy some down time.
"The facility is also used by the Traralgon Swimming Club as their summer venue, giving them a different feel to their rigorous training regimes; and the outdoor pool is also currently hosting two sessions of boot camp for those who crave an early morning extreme fitness hit," Cr Vermeulen said.
Ward Councillor, Dale Harriman, added that the Traralgon outdoor pool’s full program of early morning swim sessions and daily opening hours was accessible by checking Latrobe City’s website.
"The facility is proving to be a popular venue during the warmer summer months and is one that the whole community can enjoy. It’s not all about the kids having an afternoon splash around, but rather that the venue is being increasingly recognised as a top-class facility for a wide range of events and sporting clubs and organisations, not just locally, but from further afield," Cr Harriman said.
The Traralgon Outdoor Pool, and the outdoor pools at Yallourn North and Moe Newborough, will each host a family fun day on Australia Day from 12 noon until 7pm. Entry is free between 12 noon and 2pm.
