Labor’s False Claims Equal No New Trains for Country VictoriaNo new trains for Victoria. By Portal Admin - 25th May 2019 - Back to News It’s no wonder VLine recorded its worst performance in years last month, when the Public Transport Minister doesn’t know the detail of her own portfolio.
Today in Parliament, Minister for Public Transport Melissa Horne claimed old and unreliable long haul trains are being replaced by the Andrews Government.
The Minister is confused or isn’t across her own portfolio because the Andrews Government is not replacing long haul trains. In fact, it has flatly refused to.
Train passengers on long trips to Swan Hill, Albury, Shepparton, Bairnsdale and Warrnambool would welcome new trains, but Labor won’t deliver.
Trains the Andrews Government promised for the Albury line have been stuck at the 'design' stage for years. And there's still no money allocated to actually buy the trains once the drawn out design phase is complete.
The Minister’s latest gaffe again shows Labor has no interest in improving the abysmal performance of VLine services.
Just one of the state’s 11 VLine train services met punctuality targets in March.
The Bendigo line has failed to meet monthly punctuality targets for nearly four years.
The north east line recorded its worst performance in March in more than five years, with just 52.7 per cent of services arriving on time.
Labor has been in government for 16 of the last 20 years but still fails to deliver the comfortable, reliable, modern trains country passengers deserve.
