Local Laws Administration Officer, James Bremner, was presented with the Customer Service Award for Excellence.

Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden, praised James as a leading example of the type of service the Council aims to deliver to our community.

"James was recognised by his peers for consistently providing excellent service to customers.

"His enthusiasm to please and his ability to exceed a customer’s expectation is brilliant.

"James epitomises our Customer First theme of knowing and understanding our customers, being readily accessible to help and responding effectively to their needs", Mr Bawden said.

James Bremner’s Customer Service Award for Excellence is even more noteworthy given the typical customers he assists.

"Typically the people who call in for James can be waving an Infringement Notice at him or disputing an enforcement matter," Mr Bawden said.

"So for them to walk away feeling satisfied is quite an amazing feat."

Customer Service Week Staff Exchange Program

Customer Service Week is celebrated nationally and internationally by government and private enterprise alike, all with the aim of improving customer service.

Customer Service Week enables organisations to reinforce to staff the importance of providing excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.

"In organisations as diverse as local councils it is easy for our technical expertise and our need to comply with legislation to override good customer service," Mr Bawden said.

"During Customer Service Week at Bass Coast, we ran a staff exchange program to improve our own knowledge of Council services.

"Staff spent time working in another department to gain a better insight into Council operations which will result in superior service to our community.

"Bass Coast is responsible for providing almost 100 different services for our community which makes us an extremely complex business.

"As staff, the better we understand our business, the better the service we can provide to our community," Mr Bawden said.
