By Latrobe City - 20th December 2011 - Back to News

Businesses who produce machinery and equipment, information technology, environmentally-friendly and brand consumer goods are key industries to attend the expo.

Latrobe City’s general manager, economic sustainability, Allison Jones, said that the expo was the first national level import expo to be held in China and aims to promote and expand the import of foreign products and technologies.

"As China is the largest exporting country and the second largest importing country in the world, the expo will provide ideal opportunities for local businesses to explore, market and publicise products and services in China.

"Local businesses can acquire the latest industry information, meet new trade contacts and start business ventures to establish a market lead in China," Ms Jones said.

"A large number of forums and seminars will occur as part of the expo with over 200,000 Chinese importers and buyers expected to attend. A pre-matchmaking service will help businesses find potential importers before the expo with an information and advisory service also available.

"This is an ideal opportunity for local businesses to make key acquaintances with qualified Chinese importers," Ms Jones said.

The China International Import Expo will be hosted by the China Chamber of International Commerce and Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the Import Expo will be held at the Kunshan Convention & Exhibition Centre from 29 to 31 March 2012.

For more information about attending the expo, contact Lauren Maxwell, business development officer at Latrobe City Council on 1300 367 700.
