Representing Deputy Premier and Minister for Bushfire Response Peter Ryan, Mr Northe said the hall, which was severely impacted by the 2009 Victorian bushfires in Gippsland, had been well used by the community for over 60 years.

"Rebuilding of the popular Jeeralang North Hall was identified by the local Community Recovery Committee as a priority following the 2009 bushfires," Mr North said.

"The hall is an important asset for the local community and has been rebuilt to incorporate modifications which should reduce the risk from possible future bushfires."

Mr Northe said the Latrobe City Major Projects and Community Development Bushfire Recovery Unit worked with Kingbuilt Homes, the Hall Committee and the funding bodies to deliver the project.

"This has been a great community effort and I congratulate everyone involved in restoring this much-loved community facility," Mr Northe said.

"The rebuilt hall includes a replacement of kitchen and toilet facilities, a meeting room and storage space for records kept by the local historical society, concrete water tanks with a mains pressure pump system and a children’s play area."

Mr Ryan said the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund provided $155,000 towards the project, while McDonalds, Rotary, the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and insurance payment provided the remainder of the overall $736,000 project.

"A further $65,500 was donated by the Lions Club and local businesses to purchase internal hall fittings, water tanks and playground equipment," Mr Ryan said.

Mr Ryan said the completion of the Jeeralang North Community Hall project was an important part of the recovery process in the region.

"Hundreds of projects have been completed across Victoria as part of the bushfire reconstruction effort, including schools, halls and other community facilities," Mr Ryan said.

"The Victorian Coalition Government is continuing to work with local councils and community groups to oversee the planning and reconstruction of those that remain to be built."
