‘Le Tour’ Begins In Orbost Next WeekWheelchair Sports Victoria’s handcycling team begins ‘Le Tour 2007 Orbost to Melbourne’ next Monday, 22 October. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 23rd October 2007 - Back to News The six handcyclists who are qualified to compete in national and world titles and the Beijing Paralympic Games will attend Schools and Community Events along the way.
All pedaled by hand, Le Tour will travel from Orbost to Melbourne via Bruthen, Bairnsdale, Meerlieu, Sale, Maffra, Heyfield, Traralgon, Churchill, Driffield, Mirboo North, Leongatha, Korumburra, Tooradin, Cranbourne, Mordialloc, St Kilda finishing at Docklands.
Details of legs in East Gippsland are:
Oct 22 – Team arrives Orbost
2.30 pm to 3.30 pm: Team visits Orbost Primary School
4.30 pm to 5.30 pm: Wheelchair Basketball Ball at Orbost Sports Centre
6.00 pm to 7.00 pm: Community Pasta Tea
Oct 23 – Team leaves Orbost to Bairnsdale via Bruthen
9.00 am to 10.00 am: Visit Orbost Secondary College. Orbost Police to escort cyclists out of town
Cycle to Bruthen
1.30 pm to 2.30 pm: Visit Bruthen Primary School
John Nelson joins riders at Bruthen
2.30 pm to 3.20 pm: Visit Bairnsdale Primary School
4.00 pm to 6.00 pm: Community Barbecue at Bairnsdale City Oval
Oct 24 – Team leaves Bairnsdale to Sale
9:00 am to 10:00am: Visit Bairnsdale Secondary College
