Time Management Workshop Will Bring Timely ResultsUseful advice on effective time management for business operators will be provided at a workshop to be conducted by Latrobe City on Wednesday 13 June from 5.30pm at the civic precinct, Kay Street, Traralgon. By Latrobe Shire - 12th June 2007 - Back to News Mainly geared towards home-based businesses and established small businesses, the seminar will help people make smart decisions regarding managing time more effectively.
According to Latrobe City senior economic development officer, Leo Billington, all business operators can learn how to ideally spend precious time more profitably.
"If time is being wasted now, then strategies for change can be found. The workshop will also focus on turning good ideas into great ideas by using scarce time more efficiently. Prioritisation and implementation of time effective strategies will help filter out the things that are not going to support growth of a business.
"The sustainable competitive advantage of any business will be supported by managing time as a priority which means a business vision remains on track and is not distracted by time wasting," Mr Billington explained.
Monique Crawford owns and operates Gippsland’s only bridal couture business Istvan Moritz Bridal Couture. Monique has been designing and creating individual bridal gowns for many years now and has realised the importance of being well-organised and this means giving top priority to effective time management.
"As a highly skilled couturier, my market is expanding largely due to time being put aside to meet the needs of clients. We all say there are not enough hours in the day but we have all the time there is – so I just need to manage my time.
"I prioritise mainly because my aim is to grow the business according to an established business plan. I have clients from Melbourne and locally who make appointments for fittings. I have a family life as well which is extremely important," Ms Crawford said.
"I need at least a minimum six month lead-time for gowns to be created therefore my diary must be up-to-date. I am required to be well-organised and well-disciplined to achieve my sustainable competitive advantage. While I pace myself through each working week, work time and private time must be balanced against a need to be flexible. The whole balancing act is quite achievable with efficient time management and communication skills," Ms Crawford added.
The time management seminar is developed and funded by the Office of Small Business from the Victorian Property Fund. The two- hour workshop will be held on Wednesday 13 June at the Latrobe City offices, Kay Street, Traralgon commencing at 5.30pm and costs $10 per person. Bookings are essential. Please contact Leo Billington on 0407 541 258.
