Venus Bay SLSC gets gold and bronze for the Open Female category at Victorian IRB National ChampionshipsVictorian volunteer lifesavers won 14 medals at the Australian IRB Championships, with Hampton crowned U23 champion and Venus Bay also securing gold at the prestigious South West Rocks event. By news@gippsland - 23rd July 2025 - Back to News Volunteer lifesavers from across the state brought home a haul of medals after mixing it with the best rescue boat crews from across the country. Inflatable rescue boat (IRB) crews took part in the Sharkskin Australian IRB Championships, held at South West Rocks in NSW. Victorian lifesaving clubs took home a total of 14 medals across the week-long event. 
Congratulations to Venus Bay SLSC for bringing home gold medal on Open Female Mass Rescue and bronze medal for Open Female Team Rescue at the Victorian Inflatable Rescue Boat Victorian champions triumphHampton Life Saving Club was named National Champions in the U23 competition and sixth in the Open competition. Hampton's crews brought home a total of seven medals, including four golds and a 1-2 finish in the U23 Female Mass Rescue event. Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club also brought home a gold among two medals from the competition. Life Saving Victoria Senior Manager - Sport, Chris Schleusener congratulated all participants and their support crews for their efforts to represent their clubs and their state at the championships. "This is a huge achievement for our Victorian volunteer lifesavers to have performed so strongly against the best IRB crews in the country. It's a huge amount of work to get our crews and our boats to northern NSW for this event, and I thank and congratulate everyone involved who helped make this happen."
